Bent Ear have created the music and sound design for the new AA Ireland RelAAx Campaign.
Our brief was to try and find "the sound of yellow" or, "what does yellow sound like ?"
After a long search with many false starts, we eventually found that the sound of a Hammond organ, with no effects, no Leslie speaker and no reverb or echo layered together with a very quiet Wurlitzer organ (with a very slight wobble for texture) was a good starting point. After gently filtering the results, we smoothed out the sound so there were no sharp attacks or clicks to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere.
To create a sense of movement, we also layered in a gentle piano melody and then reversed it - an old trick from Brian Eno.
Finally, to pick out the kittens and type, we played a simple melody on a celeste that linked our furry heroes with the AA end logo.
Voila - Yellow ! With kittens.
